8.5: Interlude 8: Prolationem
This quote is one that I first heard in my early adult life from my professor, mentor, and friend Bryan H. Barrows III. I know it has been years, but I am sure it is not only my opinion that you were taken from this world too soon.
The Quote:
“Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan.”
My Thoughts:
JFK is attributed for saying this quote after The Bay of Pigs invasion. I am not sure if I have written the quote correctly, I have seen other forms of this quote on the internet, but the way I wrote it is the way I first heard it.
This quote highlights an aspect of human nature that perhaps should not be true, but almost always is. It does not matter how you view your life there will always be a level of attachment to the people, things, ideals, and ideas that are going well for you, but what happens when all of it stops?
Whatever your response is, know that success happens when you can endure those failures and still possess the courage to keep moving forward. It has nothing to do with money or fame but it has a lot to do with the people who stuck by your side through those failures. After all, everyone likes a good comeback story but does everyone truly deserve to celebrate your accomplishments when they are speaking so damning about your defeats. Other people’s actions will reveal their true character, and then it is up to you to decide whether or not they are what you need. Until next time, I am Nolan Ex Tenebris.
